Teaching

I teach with a balance of joy and curiosity. My work as an educator is shaped by my graduate research, my museum education training, and the workshops and curricula I design for learners across the Four States area.

I am completing a theoretical analysis based thesis in Art Education at the University of Arkansas. My research explores the potential value of Austrian economic theory as a social science tool for art education researchers and practitioners. I am interested in how ideas about human action, value, and decision making can support student agency and help learners understand the choices they make in creative work.

Graduate Research

A long stretch of butcher paper taped on the ground covered in colorful child drawings and scribbles with bowls of markers nearby, outdoors near a body of water and modern buildings.

I have taught in traditional classroom settings, worked with students and adults with disabilities, and facilitated learning in non‑traditional environments. I care about creating spaces where learners feel confident, supported, and excited to explore their own ideas. My teaching is rooted in helping students notice what they value, make intentional choices, and trust their creative instincts.

Teaching Experience

A sculptor's workspace with a mold of a hand, a hot glue gun, pliers, and clay on a work table, with a computer monitor displaying sketches of shoes and feet.

I have been trained to give museum tours using dialogic techniques and visual thinking strategies. I enjoy helping visitors slow down, look closely, and build meaning through conversation. This approach carries into my classroom and workshops, where I encourage learners to ask questions, share interpretations, and connect personally with the work in front of them.

Workshops and Curriculum Development

I design and facilitate art workshops that link curriculum to artistic practice through collaboration, problem solving, and meaningful challenge. I enjoy creating activities that invite exploration while still giving learners structure and purpose. My workshops are built to help people discover new skills, connect with others, and feel proud of what they make.

I believe students thrive when they feel ownership over their creative choices. My goal is to create learning environments that feel welcoming, lively, and full of possibility. Whether I am teaching watercolor, sculpture, or mixed media, I want learners to feel encouraged to try something new, and to experiment.
